SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM REVIEW MEETING AT YAMBA PRIMARY SCHOOL
Lusubilo Community Care in partnership with CRS is implementing the Integrated Support for Orphans, Vulnerable Children and Youth (IOVCY) project, with financial support from the Coppel Family, a Catholic family from Mexico. The project is being implemented in three Districts: Chitipa, Karonga and Northern part of Rumphi. Under the project’s strategic objective number 1, it supports feeding primary schools and 12 of these schools are in Chitipa district.

On 9th February, 2022 Lusubilo conducted a review meeting with school feeding committee at Yamba Primary School Feeding which covers 7 villages which are: Mwambenje 1 and 2, Maxwell, Joseph, Abraham, Piyasoni and Sanya under Group Village Headman Piyasoni T.A. Mwaulambia.
During this review, the Nutritional Officer for Chitipa District found a chance to do some messaging sessions with the committee members on one of the gaps which were identified during supervision by Holiness Mtumbuka, the Field Officer of the area. Among the gaps identified included: general nutrition education messages, cooking demonstration, and re-orientation on daily feeding ration per child.
The committee was also reminded on the roles and responsibilities of the mother group, local leaders, teachers on how best they can come up with other locally available nutritious food to feed the learners during the periods when Likuni Phala is delayed being delivered.

Hygiene and sanitation where also demonstrated by all members taking part in cleaning the kitchen surrounding where they prepare Likuni Phala for learners.
A total of 16 people attended the event (9 males and 7 females). Among those who attended were two local leaders, three members of the executive of Parents-Teachers Association (PTA).
