About Lusubilo

Background

Lusubilo Community Based Orphan Care Project is a community-based organization in Karonga diocese, north of Malawi. Lusubilo, which means “HOPE” in the local language, was founded by Sisters of Rosaria of the Karonga Diocese in 1997 under the guidance of the Director and founder Sr Beatrice Chipeta. Lusubilo aims at empowering communities so that they take ownership in addressing the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. In collaboration with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Malawi, the project is implementing a variety of OVC programs in areas of health, nutrition, ECD & Child protection and livelihoods to alleviate the sufferings OVCs in the targeted communities with the support from Coppell’s.
